Twiniversity-approved boy-girl twin outfits
SameSame Kids is a fun twist on buying second-hand clothes. It was founded by a twin mom who wanted to spread the joy of matching twins and triplets in an affordable, convenient way. You can buy or sell (or both) pre-loved matching and coordinating outfits through Same Same Kids. You will find the most adorable “boutique” onesies at half price, Halloween costumes, brand-name shoes, and even clothes with tags still on them! Definitely worth checking out and scoring an adorable boy-girl twin outfit or two!
Their online setup is amazing! It’s a one-stop shop for 4-different stores! This website also offers a family matching tab, where the matchy-matchy work is done for you (except for sizes, of course!). What’s also nice about this store is that they have packs of clothes. You can get the same style of shirts in 4 different colors, or pants that are two different colors, etc. A more efficient way to shop and a great way to match your twins without making them identical. Since the other stores are attached to this site, you can add stuff from The Children’s Place to your cart and then hop over to Gymboree all in one sitting.
The easiest way to coordinate boy-girl twin outfits is by color or theme. I LOVE stripes for this (they are usually easy to find and come in LOTS of colors). Check out these simple H&M t-shirts. Two striped shirts with the same colors but in alternating patterns. Plus, these come in a multi-pack, so you also end up with two other shirts that can easily be used in a different matchy-matchy outfit or for the days you don’t feel like going all out matchy!
Old Navy is the place to find matchy-matchy pajamas for every holiday! Who says matching is only for the daytime (and Christmas)? With Halloween rolling around, check out their Halloween-themed pajamas! While you’re there, you might as well see what else you can find! Look for similar patterns (Old Navy is good with using a specific pattern and tying it into multiple things for the whole family). I searched “matching” on their website and found these cute boy-girl twin outfits! Completely affordable and adorable!
I’m in LOVE! Olive + Scout has made my boy-girl twin outfit-matching dreams come true! Look at this cute jogger set with Baller and Athlete across the chest! Tell me you aren’t picturing your twinnies in these right now! Olive + Scout is obviously a boutique-type shop, so the price is a bit higher than the big department stores, but completely worth the spend on a couple of key wardrobe items (like these fall jackets…I have a family photo shoot coming up. Maybe flannel can be the theme?).
I was recently introduced to this shop and have 6 items in my cart right now. The clothes are amazing, and the story behind this company is equally amazing. Little Bipsy’s goal was to create a foundation offering support and resources throughout the journey of pregnancy, providing love and a safe place for babies and little ones. And recently, they were able to move forward with creating The Little Bipsy Foundation. Their first project is providing newborn gift boxes to families at their local NICU + birthing center in Everett, Washington. My twins are NICU Grads, and any organization that supports the NICU is getting my support.
A sustainable brand that uses non-toxic dyes and fabrics. A minimalist look is timeless and classic, and their color scheme is perfect for this fall season. This is the perfect place to get an exact boy-girl twin outfit but in a different color. Same romper (and this one is adorable), but one is green and one is pink. Cute and comfy tie-dye shirt and pants, same design, same fit, same everything, except colors.
We all knew Zara made trendy adult clothes, but kid’s clothes, too? YUP, and they are just as trendy as the adult section! Your toddlers will look chic and sharp with some of these designs. They even have faux leather leggings for little girls! I can not pull off the full denim outfits that are making a comeback, but I know my cute little twinnies can! And, if you haven’t jumped on the puffy vest wagon, let me help you on! A must-have item for fall: tiny puffy vests for tiny little humans!
My journey to find a solution for keeping blankets on my toddlers led me to Kyte Baby. With the cooler weather coming, their footed sleepers would be perfect for them! Especially since they don’t keep their blankets on. And when I read their About Us page, it really resonated with me. One of my twins has eczema and gets flare-ups with the change in weather. For that reason, Kyte Baby founder uses bamboo as their fabric.
Pepa London is for you if you want that special, polished look for your boy-girl twin outfits. Their style has a cohesive theme with slight variations, which will make your twins look like a matching pair rather than an identical set. Pepa London is top of the line, which comes with a price tag to match. Just keep this in mind when adding items to your cart.
There is nothing wrong with dressing your children the same. But remember, they are two individual people, even though you may think of them as a unit. An article by BBC, “Should you dress twins in identical clothes?” says dressing (twins) in their own unique outfits “allows them to see themselves as individuals who have the bonus of being part of a multiple unit.” And, if your twins are anything like mine, they will have an opinion on what they will wear by age 3!
Stephanie Miller is the proud mom of twin cyclones Zach and Carter (20-month old). Every day in the Miller house you’ll find rooms turned over, floors covered in bits of lego and puzzle pieces (mind your step), and the sound of “Brown Bear Brown Bear” read over and over, and over again. You’ll typically find her being used as the seat to reading time for the two bookworms, covered in bubble solution as they try to excel in their Bubble Wand skills, or being the voice to command Alexa for their favorite tunes. She and her husband are working on their traveling skills cause she can’t wait to show them the amazing world that is out there for them
